"A Dance on my Balcony" is a loose interpretation of a stop motion. It consists of a bunch of lumen printed flowers and plants on expired photo paper to create a hypnotizing trance of flowers and colour that feels like the plants are dancing across the screen. The piece consists of the lumen printing technique and digital software to emulate a “rave” of sorts - which feels like the only way we can experience and photograph such things currently in a global pandemic. The colours and shapes of the images are completely random and dictated entirely by time and nature (sun exposure as well as expiry of film) as well as random digital manipulation through video and photo editing software. This serves as a nod to what it feels like as humans in this totally turbulent time in history that completely relies on time and our reactions to the events happening around us that are thrown at us and are dictated by multiple variables.
